We celebrate teachers. We celebrate staff. But how often do we take a moment to say, “Hey students thank you for showing up, trying hard, and being part of this community”?.
Student Appreciation Week at HMSS is a fun, uplifting tradition designed to celebrate every student. One of the most meaningful parts is that every teacher writes personal cards to 10–12 students so that every student receives a heartfelt note.
Why It Matters
Recognition isn’t just for high achievers or student council leaders. Student Appreciation Week is about every student the artist, the athlete, the introvert, the helper.
Appreciation builds:
Stronger relationships between students and staff
Belonging for students who may not always feel seen
Motivation to stay engaged and keep growing
And let’s be honest: school is tough sometimes. Everyone could use a little lift.

Final Thought
Student Appreciation Week reminds us that school isn’t just about academics. It’s about humans growing, learning, laughing, struggling, leading.
So take this week to say: “We see you. We appreciate you. This school wouldn’t be the same without you.” Because when students feel valued, they do more than succeed. They shine.
