The Grade 10 Leadership Class at Centennial High in Calgary goes weekly to the local senior’s centre to visit and do activities with their residents. These can be as simple as a visit or more complicated like balloon volleyball, bingo, or Jeopardy. One of the major efforts was an art project one semester which finished with an art show. The student art and the art from the seniors was displayed in the lobby of the senior centre to the approval of all.
We have traditionally also done a Christmas program and a Mother’s Day program. My favourite part of each week is the energy and enthusiasm I hear from students as they share stories while walking back to school.
