Race Around the World

Not being able to host their traditional bike-a-thon, St. Francis Xavier High school in Edmonton challenged their students to “Race Around the World”.  Students tracked their personal kilometres through a fitness app, and the students attempted to reach the school goal total of 40,075 km in five days. A series of virtual events were held that students joined to get active and earn kilometres. Stationary bikes were put int he school’s main foyer for those days when students were in the school. This focus on movement and focused leadership was a conscious attempt to support students’ own mental health while making great social impact by raising money for local charities.
