Having a Coffee House implies that you are looking for performers with musical or artistic talent. In this world there are unique talents that need to be celebrated and recognized. Hosting a Stupid Human Tricks Carnival fills the void and elevates those talents that are hidden, but still need to be displayed. Regular people found their 15 seconds of fame via David Letterman’s “Stupid Human Tricks” for years. For those unfamiliar, the Late Show segment features people doing weird tricks with their bodies — basically, exactly what the name implies.
The rules are simple: You cannot do anything dangerous or that will cause you to be posthumously nominated for the Darwin Awards (The Darwin Awards salute the improvement of the human genome by honouring those who accidentally remove themselves from it in a spectacular manner!). The Carnival host must be informed in advance of what the trick is to curate the talent and rule out anything gross or unacceptable (you may want participants to audition privately by video first).
These Stupid Human tricks have to be done “live” as there are no “do-overs” and the set list is posted in advance.
